Monas – National Monuments

Monas is National Monument of Indonesia. Construction began in 1961 under the direction of President Sukarno. Monas was opened to the public in 1975. Monas situated in Central Jakarta. Monas is easy to reach as it is located almost at the heart of the city. 

Istiqlal Mosque

Istiqlal, the national mosque of Indonesia in the capital city, Jakarta, is recognized as the largest mosque in Southeast Asia. This mosque is easy to reach as it is not far from the Merdeka Square and stands almost opposite to the Jakarta Cathedral. Many world leaders like Barack Obama, King Salman of Saudi Arabia, Angela Merkel visits Istiqlal Mosque. Every year millions visitor visit this mosque. .

Jakarta Cathedral

Jakarta Cathedral Church is a Catholic Cathedral built in neo-classical style. This Cathedral stands right across Jakarta’s largest mosque, the Istiqlal Mosque. Jakarta’s Cathedral is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is officially named Gereja Santa Maria Pelindung Diangkat ke Surga, meaning the Church of Our Lady of Assumption. This is a must visit attraction in Jakarta.
